L’analisi dei danni a tante strutture causati dal terremoto costituisce, senza volerlo, un’occasione di studio derivata dall’obbligo morale di non mandare dispersa una fonte di conoscenze che ci viene offerta ad un costo altissimo, pagato in termini di vite umane prima ancora che sul piano economico.
Una fonte importante per comprendere il comportamento sismico delle strutture esistenti attraverso quell’approccio pratico e intuitivo che ha segnato l‘evoluzione della prevenzione sismica, oggi fortemente rivalutato dalla stessa normativa tecnica.
L’osservazione diretta dei danni prodotti dal sisma per riconoscere le cause che li hanno determinati è pertanto la strada maestra da seguire in quel processo analitico che oggi sembra non poter fare a meno dell’impiego di software considerati come gli unici strumenti in grado di dare risposte attendibili.

The outline of the damage caused by the earthquake to many buildings constitutes an unwitting case study opportunity, derived from the moral obligation not to disperse a source of knowledge that is provided at the highest cost, paid in terms of human lives, before than in the economic sphere.
It is an important source for understanding the seismic behaviour of existing structures through the practical and intuitive approach that has marked the evolution of seismic prevention, which is today strongly re-evaluated by the technical regulation itself.
The direct observation of the damage caused by the earthquake, in order to recognize the causes that determined them, constitutes therefore the main way to follow in that analytical process, which today seems unable to do without the use of software considered as the only tools able to give reliable answers.
