Il processo di rinnovamento ambientale delle città metropolitane del XXI secolo è sempre più caratterizzato dall’obiettivo di riportare la natura all’interno dei centri urbani, attraverso un modello di riqualificazione basato sulla conversione di aree dismesse, sistemi di trasporto abbandonati, linee ferroviarie e metropolitane, waterfront e coperture di edifici in una rete dinamica e alternativa di spazi verdi a servizio della comunità. L’articolo presenta un’analisi dettagliata delle soluzioni più innovative messe in campo a livello globale focalizzando l’attenzione sui percorsi verdi lineari di superficie e sotterranei e sul green lifting di edifici pubblici, per l’importanza che tali interventi assumono anche nell’ottica di una funzione educativa di coinvolgimento e integrazione delle comunità.

The renewal process of the twenty-first century’s metropolitan cities is increasingly characterized by the objective of bringing nature within urban centers, through a redevelopment model based on the conversion of brownfields, abandoned transport systems, railways and underground railways, waterfront and roofs of buildings in a dynamic and alternative network of green spaces at the service of community. The article presents a detailed analysis of the most innovative solutions used in the field at global level, focusing on surface and underground greenways and on the green lifting of public buildings, given the importance that these interventions also have under the aspect of an educational function aimed at involvement and integration.
