Pompei è sito Unesco dal 1996 ed è il sito archeologico più esteso al mondo.
La consapevolezza che questo patrimonio contribuisce, nelle attività materiali e immateriali, alla coesione del sistema europeo e svolge un ruolo strategico per lo sviluppo impone la ricerca di strategie, metodologie e strumenti innovativi necessaria per la salvaguardia di Pompei con il potenziamento dei nodi infrastrutturali urbani e risposte di ampio respiro e di buona sensibilità paesistica, per riqualificare il sistema ferrovia-strade-parcheggi-canali-campagna-siti turistici.

Pompeii is a UNESCO site since 1996 and is the largest archaeological site of the world. The awareness that this heritage contributes, in tangible and intangible tasks, to the cohesion of the European system and plays a strategic role for the development, imposes the research of innovative strategies, methods and instruments necessary for the protection of Pompeii, with the strengthening of the infrastructural urban nodes, and broad-based responses, together with good
landscape awareness, to redevelop the rail-roads-parkings-channelsland-tourist sites systems.
