La Biennale di Architettura di Venezia (o Mostra Internazionale di Architettura) si svolge ogni due anni, in alternanza con l’Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte di Venezia, con l’intento di promuovere nuove tendenze e stimolare il dialogo all’interno del dibattito internazionale sull’architettura. La XIV edizione, curata da Rem Koolhaas, è attualmente in corso e terminerà il 23 novembre.

Il tema dell’esposizione, “Fundamentals”, è stato scelto con l’obiettivo di investigare sugli elementi fondamentali dell’architettura e sulla storia della modernità, indagando l’architettura contemporanea ed interrogandosi sulla possibile architettura del futuro. L’articolo presenta un’analisi della mostra finalizzata a cogliere da un lato le novità introdotte rispetto alle edizioni precedenti e dall’altro le provocazioni, le risposte e le riflessioni offerte dalla Biennale al dibattito internazionale sull’architettura contemporanea.

The Biennale of Architecture in Venice (or International Architecture Exhibition) takes place every two years, alternating with the International Art Exhibition in Venice, with the aim of promoting new trends and to stimulate dialogue within the international debate on architecture. The fourteenth edition, managed by Rem Koolhaas, is currently underway and it will end on the 23rd of November. The theme of the exhibition, “Fundamentals”, was chosen with the aim of investigating the fundamental elements of architecture and the history of modernity, looking into contemporary architecture and inquiring about the possible architecture of the future. The article presents an analysis of the exhibition aimed at understanding on the one hand the new features compared to previous editions and on the other hand provocations, responses and reflections offered by the Biennale to the international debate on contemporary architecture.
